Puerto Vallarta is not exactly known for trail running. But just 25 kms to the South lies a quaint fishing village called Boca de Tomatlan. From there begins a 9 km coastal trail which passes by the popular boat-access-only Playa Las Animas on the way to Quimixto, and on to Quimixto Falls.

I had been to Vallarta many times over the years, but it wasn’t until a visit in 2018 that I discovered this little gem that has since become my favourite local trail.

-Es ideal para nadar y pasarla en familia

3. Tour Las Animas (debes apartar tu lugar un día antes con quienes ofrecen los tours)
– la salida es alas 10am
– te ofrece un desayuno y comida en playa las animas, la visita a los arcos donde te permiten hacer snorquel, te dan el equipo de snorquel, la segunda visita es ah playa las animas o te dan a elegir ir a visitar las cascadas de quimixco, además te ofrece barra libre en bedidas durante toda la estancia en la embarcacion

4. Playa de los Muertos (esta a tan solo unos minutos de malecón caminando)

My friend Brian (@bbradle4) and I took a few days and went to explore Puerto Vallarta in Mexico. I fell in love with this place.. The people were amazing. The food was great – would absolutely recommend.

From December 1st to December 12th, thousands citizens from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico celebrated the Virgin Mary at the Festival of Our Lady of Guadalupe with music, parade floats, fireworks, and flowers. The Lady of Guadalupe is of significant importance to Mexican Catholics and it was such an honor to immerse ourselves in the heart of this year’s celebration.

We’re visiting Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for a week, and here are some of my thoughts on our first few days in this beautiful ocean side city. This is just my opinion and personal observation…if you’ve been to PV and have something constructive to add, feel free to articulate it in the comments. When we travel we try to be as un-touristy as possible, which isn’t easy in Puerto Vallarta where tourism is such a big part of the economy, but being a major tourist destination does make PV an easy gateway for first time visitors to Mexico. So far we’re loving it here…lots of things to see, friendly folks, great food, and kinda hot (if you’re into hot). I wish we were staying longer!
