The total, $39,500 is wrong. The individual expenses are correct, and the correct total is approximately $31,650. What happened is during the year I began working as a real estate agent and had expenses related to that, which I didn&#8217;t  mean to include in the total because I don&#8217;t consider them &#8220;living expenses&#8221;.
