El avistamiento de un submarino militar frente a las costas de Puerto Vallarta desató una ola de especulaciones en redes sociales, donde algunos usuarios afirmaban que se trataba de una nave estadounidense en misión de espionaje contra cárteles mexicanos. Sin embargo, la Secretaría de Marina aclaró que se trata del submarino SS-20 “Thomson” de la Armada de Chile, fondeado a 1.39 kilómetros de la playa por motivos logísticos.

Según la Capitanía de Puerto Regional, la nave permanecerá en el sitio hasta el 18 de agosto antes de continuar rumbo a su país, tras participar en el ejercicio militar internacional Diesel Electric Submarine Initiative (DESI) junto a la Marina de Estados Unidos. Este paso por México forma parte de un itinerario previamente autorizado, descartando cualquier incursión no coordinada y confirmando que la presencia naval responde a cooperación y entrenamiento militar.

This vlog is such a fun one, we’re still in Puerto Vallarta and it’s all about slow mornings, coconut-filled beach days, dramatic fishing attempts (Polo’s short film debut, truly ?), and the prettiest sunset swims. La Administración del Sistema Portuario Nacional (ASIPONA) de Puerto Vallarta anunció que próximamente se inaugurará una ruta marítima directa hacia las Islas Marías, un nuevo atractivo turístico que hasta ahora solo podía disfrutarse saliendo desde San Blas, Nayarit, o Mazatlán, Sinaloa.
