Old Town, or as the city has named the area “Romantica Zone,” is an area full of excellent small restaurants of every type of food and charming old boutique hotels. The only place for live Theatre in Puerto Vallarta. Very safe to wander the narrow streets. Also, the Pacific beach rims the Zone.

We found our new favorite area to stay in Puerto Vallarta — and most tourists don’t even know it exists.
This local beach / neighborhood completely changed how we see PV ??
On this trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, we discovered a little-known neighborhood ,called Cinco De Diciembre, that quickly became our favorite area in the city.

This video tours you through a truly local side of Puerto Vallarta — a neighborhood with cobbled streets, taco stands, traditional restaurants, local bars, a municipal market, and a relaxed beach vibe at Playa Camarones.

We stayed in a traditional Mexican house Airbnb, on a real local street, and experienced everyday life away from the crowded resort and hotel zones. This area feels authentic, walkable, and welcoming — and it’s just starting to becoming more popular with visitors.

If you’re planning a trip to PV and want a place that’s local, affordable, close to the beach, and full of character, this neighborhood is absolutely worth considering.
